More Enron-like behavior

Message ID: 35102 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-08-29 13:20:00 Subject: more enron-like behavior Recs: 5 The canopy shell game is clearly enron-like. Another enron like scam is the shredding of evidence. I don't know if scox has the shredding machines going all night (wouldn't doubt it). But it does appear that sco is trying to eliminate evidence from their site, and from the web. Wonder if it will work? ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License:  CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------

Timing of SCOX web-server problems

Message ID: 35096 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-08-29 13:16:00 Subject: Timing of scox web-server problems Recs: 3 interesting I think. 1) Scox gets extension against redhat injunction. 2) Web-server goes down (scox blames ibm backed linux community). 3) Web-server is back up - but changed, lots of scox claims now missing. 4) Archieved claims are missing - can't be found with serch engines. 5) Scox is now saying: "we were never going to sue anybody." Desperate little scam. Will it work? ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License:  CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------

SCO doc calls linux kernel "GPL"

Message ID: 34122 Posted By: freecode_99 Posted On: 2003-08-27 17:10:00 Subject: SCO doc calls linux kernel "GPL" Recs: 5 Yet another slip-up. I have a text document from their website that describes the linux-kernel as licensed under the GPL! I am giving this information the right people. It is on their website, under their own admission. Damn, I love Custom Google Search forms! w00t! Anyone wanting the cdocument will be able to have it, as soon as I get it to the right people. I am keeping a copy for myself. I will never pay them a dime. I highly recommend the book "Google Hacks". Even an amatier slueth can find whatever they need from the web. They cleaned up some holes, but they forget the experienced seeker shall find. No, I don't know the authors and I don't work for O'Reilly. I am just tired of the lies and watching people getting taken. I am just an average guy who has had enough. You can't cliam the kernel is GPOL on your s...

Weak and WIMPY

Message ID: 33988 Posted By: brightshiningreflection Posted On: 2003-08-27 14:00:00 Subject: weak and WIMPY Recs: 5 OK, I was expecting some kind of refutation of the analyses that have so thoroughly taken apart SCO's "evidence" and charges. Some kind of semi-plausible handwaving. Something. Even if a little bit.... Nah. WEAK nothingness. "We have real evidence. We didn't show our best stuff. We didn't mean to suggest that the packet filtering stuff was ours." Oh gimmee one giant frigging break. These guys don't even lie well. They're just plain lame. Lots of theories have been generated about what the hell these dimwits are up to. Clearly they can't be so stupid as to think they're going to beat IBM in this lame case. It's looking more and more like a scam to me. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the...

Distribution?

Message ID: 32702 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-08-25 12:29:00 Subject: distribution? Recs: 2 Doesn't matter how high scox goes, unless there are real buyers at that level. Sure, canopy companies can trade scox back and forth, and drive the price up, that's no trick. The trick is to be able to dump those over-priced shares on unsuspecting traders/investors. There are retailers out there who will gamble on a few thousands shares. But scox insiders have millions of shares to unload. Seems to me it would be quite a trick to unload like that, before the whole scam falls through. I wonder if the percentage of insider holdings has changed significantly? Seems to me that the lower that percentage, the harder it will be to manipulate price. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the followin...

A thought on the stupid invoice scam

Message ID: 29860 Posted By: diogenese19348 Posted On: 2003-08-19 18:58:00 Subject: A thought on the stupid invoice scam Recs: 7 You know, this is an entirely separate issue from whether or not SCO has IP issues with Linux. Let’s take a perfectly legal product, say Windows2000 (OK, so just pretend). Let’s say Microsoft finds out you are running a server running Windows2000 without paying for a license. Can they just send you an invoice? No, they can’t. Sending you an invoice indicates you bought something from them. You did not. You are running a pirated copy. Microsoft sending you an invoice would be fraud. What they can do is sue the crap out of you for infringement of copyright, after sending you a warning letter. Notice, SCO has taken that first step. Sending out invoices is NOT the second. Even in license audits (we use Oracle, we have been through them), you do not get an invoice based on the audit. You get an invoice based upon an agreement you came to with the vendo...

Harping on indemnification issue

Message ID: 28557 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-08-15 11:10:00 Subject: harping on indemnification issue, Recs: 8 claiming the gpl is invalid, claiming to cancel licenses of a company that no longer exists. . . scox ranting becoming increasing desperate, and bizarre. I am amazed that anybody can take this company seriously, even for a second. How can this scam not be completely obvious? ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License:  CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------

SCO's Bulletproof Action Plan

Message ID: 28452 Posted By: korbomite Posted On: 2003-08-14 23:13:00 Subject: SCO's Bulletproof Action Plan Recs: 3 For immediate release: Scam Con & Overcharge (NAZDAC: SCO) today announced a barrage of new lawsuits against users of pornography processing software called Linux. A proprietary IBM product, Linux allegedly violates SCO intellectual property. This new development comes on the heels of another SCO lawsuit against God for denying immortality to SCO CEO Darl McBurglary. "Women and young children are viewing cartoon images of NAKED penguins!" shouted McBurglary, throwing his coffee mug across the room during an interview. "It's disgusting! And besides, it contains OUR intellectual property! It's a conspiracy! And everybody's in on it!!!" When asked which SCO intellectual property was found in Linux, McBurglary commented, "IBM invented, developed, trademarked, copyrighted and patented certain technologies. Therefore, the...

Dark day for longs

Message ID: 26102 Posted By: doughnuts_hmm Posted On: 2003-08-11 12:31:00 Subject: Dark day for longs Recs: 3 Truth of SCO's position seems to sink into minds of people holding SCOX. Wake up time for dreamers. Remember those Nigerian scams? Same thing applies here: There are no billions waiting to be collected. But all you'll get are funny invoices (this time for fake licenses). Which - once paid are money lost. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "doughnuts_hmm" under the following license: License:  CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------

Cramming - Charging for Unauthorized

Message ID: 25883 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-08-10 18:31:00 Subject: Cramming - Charging for Unauthorized Recs: 0 Services. It's an old scam. Used by a lot of internet directory services. They would just attach unauthorized services to your phone bill, or send you a bill for services you never authorized. Not so much different from what SCO is doing. SCO has no authorizition to force me to pay for using Linux. Yet SCO intends to sends to me a bill so my linux use will be "guarnteed legal." The FTC cracked down hard on these cramming scams a few years ago. Yet the FTC seems to ignore the scox scam. At least so far. Do you suppose scox would send me a bill explaining why I have to purchase UnixWare? ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License:  CC...

SCOX are Freedom's thieves

Message ID: 25743 Posted By: freecode_99 Posted On: 2003-08-09 18:01:00 Subject: SCOX are Freedom's thieves Recs: 0 No one deserves more to be jailed, sent to prison for their efforts to steal everyone else's work. The truth is that they are a sham of a farce trying to be a desparate plot to fool an ever easily fooled populace. You don't really believe they are 'freedom fighters" do you? If they wanted freedom to exist - they could have done this all above board. Instead they are underhanded and avoided any slivers of reality getting in the way of their stock scams. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "freecode_99" under the following license: License:  CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------

Eweek slams the scox/sunw scam

Message ID: 23399 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-08-04 22:33:00 Subject: eweek slams the scox/sunw scam Recs: 0 >> McNealy compared the Linux community to Napster's MP3 swashbucklers and referred darkly to the copyright liability dangers of opting for the open-source "lifestyle."<< McNealy is parroting McBride here. Should be no surprise to anybody who can see through their little scam. >> There's no free lunch here. Sun can't placate SCO and also respect the intellectual property rights of the Linux kernel developers. cyzq2003 has so much to lose

Message ID: 23219 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-08-04 15:41:00 Subject: cyzq2003 has so much to lose Recs: 0 You longs seem a desperate, I guess that's understandable. >> especially msft stands by them<< The scox scam is falling apart right now. Do you think msft and sunw want to be more closely associated with fraud and extortion? I think you scox longs will find that companies like msft and sunw are strictly fair weather friends.
