Subject: Reason why SCOsource not selling
Recs: 43

I figured it was time to go buy a license, if SCO can keep IBM tied up for this long then it must be worth a read... :-)

So off to SCO.com I go - on their short cut menu on the right hand side - I can't find any mention of the UNIX license that the told the judge they were selling. Only one that is listed as
"SCO IP License for Linux"... Didn't they try tell IBM and the judge they weren't selling that ?

Anyway - it will do.. so off to the page I go.
http://www.sco.com/scosource/linuxlicense.html (that's for BIFF's benefit, because he never provides evidence ).

So at the bottom of the page I'm told "The license is available immediately and can be purchased by credit card through our online store." and there is a "BUY NOW" button.. one click later and I'm presented with a series of steps ( again for biff http://www.sco.com/scosource/howtobuy.html ).
It reads something like
Step 1: Review SCO IP End user licensing agreemment (EULA)
Step 2: Choose appropriate license for your servers
Step 3: Register your license to complete the activation and receive an electronic copy of the EULA

It's no wonder SCO are going nowhere, and can't sell the license - you can't do step 1 until you've completed step 3 and gotten the electronic copy of the EULA...

So I am thinking that they've made some small mistake - but no... if you continue the process you have to buy the license before you go any further. There is a link at step 1 that says "please click here to review the EULA" - so I clicked (here biff: http://www.sco.com/scosource/eula.html ) but that says "Please contact your SCO sales representative for a current copy of the software license."

But I haven't bought anything, so I don't have a sales representative..

So despite being told that you can buy it online "now" - in fact you can't. ( or at least you don't know what you are getting until after you've paid for it)

If it looks like a scam, smells like a scam and acts like a scam then it must be a SCOsource license :-)
