I don't htink anyone truly wants anarchy, but if they get away with their crimes, that is what is going to happen. Just stealing a few billion here, hundred million there and they get away with it? Kenny Boy Lay needs rounding up and so do all the little SCOX munchkins and their cohorts in crime. Otherwise - there is no respect for the law and the laws are worthless, weak and incompetent. We don't care whether or not those copyrights are upheld or invalidated. We don't care whether or not IBM or Novell get a black eye in court. What really got us going is the slander and libel by McBride, Yarro, and Sontag, and their motley crew of supporters, against Linux and F/OSS, and the blatant stock scam based on that libel and slander. What we are interested in is progress in the Lanham Act violations portion of the IBM case. We want to see the Red Hat case go forward. Scox will get more delay also. I guess these judges work scox, or maybe msft. Scox *always* gets what they want. Scox says "jump" and these judges are hanging from the rafters. Forget this scam going to trial in 2007. Apparently, that is not what msft/scox wants. If the judge takes a stand, msft will have that judge removed. I don't know how msft does it, but they alway do. It is a mess that only seems to get worse, on a daily basis. As Director of Research & Technology for a law firm I follow the cases for several reasons. The lawyers in the firm that handle IP issues are stunned by the case. Ten years ago I did support Unix in every way possible. It worked, worked well and was not an M$ product. Unix stagnated about five years ago making it nearly worthless to me, except for legacy purposes. Linux has come a very long way, and rightly so. You also need to understand that the management of CalderaSCO would not know a line of code if it bit them in the butt. The management of oldSCO and Microport clearly knew something about code and coding. For many of us the Caldera distro of Linux was our first exposure to commercially distributed Linux. Perhaps this week. Funds which are likely to be found owed to Novell grossly exceed SCOX's remaining cash. Specific non-performance of a contract is one of the rare conditions where a judge in a civil case will act to immediately shut down a company (IANAL, but this is obvious). In my opinion specific non-performance may well be a claim of such a motion. At long last after running what I think has been a corrupt scam for the last two years, I can finally think that a cease of operations and bankruptcy for SCO is now a real possibility in the next 30-60 days. The SCO Source SCAM is okay, because the SCO License for Linux is a *merged product*, which is specifically allowed for in the Novell-Santa Cruz APA. So, you're saying Caldera put Unixware and Open Sewer Code in Linux? 'Kay. Novell did sell Santa Cruz the copyrights to UnixWare, they just didn't bother writing that down, anywhere. (No one ever told those people to *always* get a reciept?) Caldera's deal with SUN and Microsoft is okay, and Caldera doesn't have to pay Novell any part of it because they weren't licensing UnixWare to those companies.
