GO4SCO: Challenge met!!! You liar.

Recs: 7 Your challenge, in message # 65400 on this board was: >> Go ahead let the Zealot in you flame that.<< First, I am not a Zealot. I am but a simple hunter for the truth. I met your challenge and proved you again to be nothing but liar and a shill (and probably just a script-kiddie punk, too). Message #65400, you state: >> Hmmm, I never siad OpenSSL was GPL, I siad when the idea of using OpenSSL came up I shot it down. Message ID: 63184 Posted By: walterbyrd Posted On: 2003-11-19 12:20:00 Subject: no case = no case Recs: 9 I don't care who's representing you. Besides, it's perfectly obvious that scox isn't going to trial to sue ibm. This entire thing is not crazy or stupid. If you look at it in terms of a stock scam, everything makes perfect sense. To me, the saddest part, is the abysmal ineptitude of the US justice system, and the US legal system. Sad, just pathetically sad. Even a bunch of losers like canopy/scox can make a dishonest fortune, and laugh all the way to the bank. Laugh at the US justice system, and with good reason. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "walterbyrd" under the following license: License:  CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ----------------------------------------------...

Gnu/Linux:Gnu's not Unix!

Message ID: 62627 Posted By: crunchie812 Posted On: 2003-11-18 10:57:00 Subject: Gnu/Linux:Gnu's Not Unix! Recs: 22 The base of the SuSE linux distribution is the Linux kernel and the GNU libraries and tools. For all potential suckers: GNU stands for Gnu's Not Unix. Get that? Not Unix. What part of Not Unix don't you understand? Canopy's spokesmodel Darl McBride, in his current acting role as CEO of a disintegrating software company turned litigant extradinaire, announces a lawsuit for competeing in the Unix business, by aquiring a software distributor of an operating system that is explicitly NOT UNIX! This is good news? The fact that SCO violated the terms of their agreement with Novell by not acting in accordance with Novell's instructions to desist in their claims to terminate IBM's Unix license, and are now announcing the intent to sue Novell, is not good news. In order to fuel another pump in the stock price, they have opened up y...

Cargo cult legal moves

Message ID: 60925 Posted By: martin_lvnv Posted On: 2003-11-13 05:35:00 Subject: Cargo Cult Legal moves Recs: 14 So SCO decided to copy IBM and send out supoenas. So SCO sent one to Linus and RMS. What can they be thinking? Their lawyers are so clueless its like they pacific islanders in the grip of the cargo cult-- going through the motions without any understanding. SCOs thinking seems to be that if they mirror IBMs legal moves they will be successful. There is a difference between SCOs legal moves and IBMs. IBM supoenaed DB to find out what SCO showed and told them. This is directly related to IBMs claim that SCO is a stock scam and also directly related to IBM showing the judge they should win their motion to compel since SCO is showing evidence to everyone but not producing it in discovery for IBM. But what answers can SCO get from Linus and RMS? SCOs case is a contract action against IBM. It only matters what IBM did or didn't do. There is no way RMS had...

Which scam is it?

The more I look at this the more I am convinced it is not a simple insider stock scam. Granted, Canopy already pulled some significant $ out, but the execs can't bail bigtime without inviting unwanted scrutiny. They know the SEC is resource starved (and likely supported anyone running for office who would help keep it that way), but they also know that the SEC can't ignore blatant scams. I am becoming convinced that the conspiracy theorists advancing the anti-Linux FUD theory have a point. The financial gain by insiders (at least the overt gain by selling SCOX stock) cannot be the sum total of this story. I see only two plausible alternatives: 1) SCOX/McBride thought they could scare up a buyout from IBM and didn't think much beyond that. There is considerable evidence for this angle. 2) SCOX is a pawn played b...

Message ID: 59888 Posted By: korbomite Posted On: 2003-11-10 03:38:00 Subject: "Our complaint will now move... Recs: 6 ...to the discovery phase." Prophetic words from Red Hat CEO, Matthew Szulik, this past August. After what has gone down since, I thought it telling to revisit recent history. Consider the following: -Red Hat has moved forward in its aims to stop SCUMX from slandering and libelling the entirety of the FLOSS community - especially the GNU/GPL sub-community - and their corporate partners and allies. -HPQ and SUNW have shown their duplicitous hands, along with ORCL and CA and reaped the whirlwind because of it. -IBM is following the money and attempting to pierce the corporate veil all the way to the ultimate backers - the above mentioned traitorous "friends" of FLOSS and and perhaps to MSFT itself, to answer the question "What did you plan and when did you plan it?" -The disaster in Las Vegas. -The recent announcement...

Just that one deal involved printing about 3 million brand new shares. It pissed off at least one long who posted here when his ownership got diluted. And who can say if thats the last time a deal will be announced where SCO hands out a couple million shares or options, etc. Also SCO is already authorized to issue 45 million shares without even going back to the board to ask permission (as far as I know). And it has been freely running the share printing press printing shares for employee options, shares for SUNW as part of the deal where SUNW paid for a SCO license, shares for the Vultus deal, the PIPE etc. In fact, almost everything they announce involves printing shar...

Libel and slander

Consult an attorney. Etc. Just because they don't like it, doesn't mean they can pursue it. First off, everyone is entitled to an opinion. So saying "I think is a stock scam" is never actionable since its just sharing your opinion. Next, truth is also a defense. For instance saying "It is definitely a stock scam" is completely protected if you can prove it actually is a stock scam (or they can't prove it isn't, or even if they don't want to take you to court since in discovery you can ask for evidence relating to whether it is or isn't a stock scam). Also as public figures, SCO has a much higher standard before getting damages. Even if you say something thats untruthful, they have to prove you had intentional malice. Fo...

More observations on today's news

Novell knows what is in the sealed settlement between it, USL, and the Regents of the University of California. There has been a lot of speculation about what is in that document, and none of it is assumed to be good for SCO. It may well contain listings of code that appears in AT&T System V which AT&T stipulated to having been lifted from BSD without attribution. Message ID: 58460 Posted By: crunchie812 Posted On: 2003-11-04 23:17:00 Subject: Why Stock Go Up? No really.... Recs: 9 I don't get it. When DB first came out with the $45 target it was news and triggered a big run up in price. Or did it? The Baystar deal is announced immediately folowing. Coincidence? Not. Now that DB recommmendation was so hedged and waffled that it was hardly worth calling a recommendation, other than the totally unsupported $.38 earnings projection and the equally unsupported $45 target. Yet the price takes off, then drifts back down to below BayStar's $16.93 price, with dwindling volume. So today we get the Novell/SuSE/IBM news, which is somewhere between not good and totally disastrous for SCO, and we get Skiba reiterating the same unsupported target, which doesn't factor in the effects of the BayStar deal. And we get a $3.00 jump in price? I'm having a difficult time believing that either price jump was a reaction to the...
